Questions for The Self-Esteem Queen

Hello and welcome to another edition of "Questions for The SEQ"  Today's Question comes from a conversation I had last week with someone.  She asked me,

"How can you stay happy all the time no matter how people treat you?"

My answer was simple....I referred her back to a book I consider to be one of my "Bibles" of knowledge: Conversations With God: Book 3 by Neale Donald Walsch.  On page 21, Neale is holding a conversation with God when God says,

"Nothing can happen - I say to you, nothing can occur- in your life which is not precisely a perfect opportunity for you to heal someone, create something, or experience something that you wish to heal, create, or experience in order to be Who You Really Are."

I look at every situation I am in as a way to educate and humble myself while perhaps educating someone else on something that I have no knowledge of... Sometimes we are quick to look at a situation and automatically see the bad when we are sometimes in someone's life to help them heal from something.

Our job is to be cheerful in what we give to others because you never know what someone close to you is going through; someone near may need a smile that only YOU can provide.

Take some time today to spend LESS time thinking about the bad reasons why someone is in your life and instead FOCUS on the positive that people bring to you / or that you bring to them.  You will find that your mindset shift can make a world of difference in how you wake up.

CHANGE YOUR MINDSET; CHANGE YOUR LIFE.

Questions for The Self-Esteem Queen

Good Tuesday Gang!  I am so excited to be celebrating a holiday with loved ones once again grateful for life and another day to get it right!  I receive a lot of questions from my Facebook and Twitter friends, as well as those who I meet in my everyday life.  I want to start to provide those questions for you all so that the answer can benefit any and all who may be experiencing a similar situation.

Today's Question for The SEQ is:
"What happens when I want to start living drama free, but all the people around me seem to be drawn to drama?  I mean, I can't just eliminate people I live with because that would cause conflict, right?"
Great question that I'm sure many who follow me have pondered.  I know that sometimes it's difficult to just cut off people in your life even though you are aware that you become the average of the 5 people you CHOOSE to hang around the most.  BUT, when being around someone, you don't have to dwell in what Iyanla Vanzant calls "The Valley of O.P.P"

You normally know that you are in this valley when:
  • You're so embroiled in the lives of others and their conflicts that you lose track of your own life,

  • You believe there are people who you cannot leave,

  • You spend a major portion of your life trying to prove someone wrong, get back at someone, or dwell on something someone has done to you in the past,

  • You believe that there are people around you that need you to survive

Iyanla Vanzant says that O.P.P., Other People's Problems, Perspectives, and Purposes, is the number one killer in the spirit of the Black Women. (Taken from "The Value in the Valley" by Iyanla Vanzant)

It is often difficult to leave behind those things that we are used to like drama.  Often we see someone going through something and we are compelled to help them out of their chaos.  What we must realize is that we are not living our authentic selves when we spend MAJOR time helping other people.  ALLOW people to grow at their pace while focusing on your own personal growth daily.

This is a true key to success!
Have a great day!
